SPRING SUMMIT --- Online registration continues for the State Bar's Spring Summit in San Jose, June 2-3. The conference will focus on increasing diversity in the legal profession.
JUDICIAL AWARD --- Nominations are open for the Benjamin Aranda III Access to Justice Award, given annually to a California judge or appellate court justice who has demonstrated a long-term commitment to equal access to the courts.
VOTING CONTINUES --- Ballots were mailed May 1 to attorneys in each of the five State Bar districts with openings on the CYLA and bar boards.
WEIGH IN --- The State Bar is seeking public comment on a number of issues such as permanent disbarment, creation of a new legal specialty and proposed revisions to current bar membership rules.
FEE ARB IN SLO --- Recent developments in fee arbitration will be discussed at a June 8 free training program in San Luis Obispo.
MOVING? --- Under B&P section 6002.1, active and inactive members have 30 days to notify the State Bar about a change of address.
